Hamburg on a Sunday without rain

NIT Class 13 Welcome Weekend Saturday 8th/Sunday 9th of October 2011
Ten young ladies and twenty two young men, altogether coming from sixteen countries enjoyed various group activities in the NIT and later on extended to the main areas of Harburg, facilitated by Freya Darga, Stefan Schell, Christoph Müske and Heike Bläsig. NIT Class 13 started to get to know each other, to develop team spirit and group dynamics while getting familiar with the new living surroundings for the two years to come. Saturday started for everybody with an opulent breakfast at a long table and ended with a cool party organised by student tutors Arne Speerfock and Hannes Hattecke. It included ambitious kicker competitions in the common room (which has been newly equipped with the support of Haspa this year) in the fifth floor and went on until early Sunday morning!
Warmly welcomed by fellow students from class 12 and alumni, the newcomers continued this weekend’s discovery tour during a harbour cruise and a city walk north of the river Elbe on Sunday. Many new exciting contacts, an idea of where to find what in Harburg, a vague first impression of what Hamburg has to offer and, first and foremost, a lot of fun and the good feeling of touching down in the new community of class 13 at the NIT prepare for the challenges to come: Hamburg here we are!
