IBM Centennial Event at NIT
16.12.2011
To round off its centennial year, IBM invited NIT students and TUHH students on IT-related degree courses, along with interested members of academic staff and employees of various university departments to a reception held in the NIT Foyer on December 14. NIT President Professor Wolfgang Bauhofer welcomed the guests and outlined the pleasingly frequent links between the NIT, the TUHH and IBM.
Dr. Löschenkohl, Vice President Leader Public and head of IBM’s Hamburg office, took the guests on a time journey through the company’s history and explained to them in a very personal manner what makes IBM what it is.
Dr. Mähler, head of scientific communication at IBM in Böblingen, paid tribute to IBM’s successful research cooperation with the Institute of Electromagnetic Theory at the TUHH and to the Masters@IBM Program at the NIT. He outlined the company’s cooperation offering in the areas of Academic Excellence, Research and Development, and Student Activities.
Professor Christian Schuster, head of the Institute of Electromagnetic Theory, rounded off the presentation by describing his own experience of this cooperation. He focused on the value of frank and respectful expert discussion on the challenges that lie ahead.
Ms. Seevers of IBM’s HR department outlined to the younger majority of guests at the event the career entry and development opportunities at IBM. Stimulated by the compact information provided, all of the guests went on to enjoy the direct and unpretentious exchange of further information in a pleasant atmosphere.
