“Three Founders –Three Ways to Start up a New Business”

17.01.2012

As part of both the new NIT Open Lecture Series and the new NIT Entrepreneurship Track, this year’s first lecture featured three gripping approaches to different business models and how they work in practice. Three entrepreneurs — Uwe Lübbermann (Premium, www.premium-cola.de/), Dr. Florian Skiba (Arktik, www.arktik.de/), and Philipp Spethmann (Allyve, www.allyve.com/) — described how they set about finding their business idea, the steps they took to set up a business born of that idea, and, finally, the obstacles they had to overcome. Their presentations were followed by a lively discussion on the role of an entrepreneur in a startup company and in society.

Later, the three founders looked at their similarities and differences as well as their success factors. All ideas were created out of a situation of need or dissatisfaction with currently existing products or solutions. They all agreed that an important aspect of being an entrepreneur is the need to evolve the idea and to be ready to constantly evaluate your strategy. In starting a company, they learned how many setbacks they were able to handle, to accept failures, and to learn from them.

The main message they all saw as crucial was that it is essential to maintain confidence in yourself and your business!
