On 18 October 2011, the NIT has been delighted to welcome the new NIT class 13 into the student body. The Welcome Evening took place at the lobby of the NIT building. Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Bauhofer, president of the NIT, opened the evening and welcomed all new students at the NIT. Prof. Bauhofer also welcomed Prof. Dr. Matthias Meyer, head of the Institute of Management Control and Accounting, as well as Prof. Dr. Christian Lüthje, head of the Institute of Marketing Industrial Goods and Services and dean of the Department of Management Sciences and Technology. Prof. Lüthje gave an entertaining speech and did not only introduce his department but also encouraged the new students to be proud of their decision to choose the NIT for the next chapter within their professional lifes.

As a traditional part of the Welcome Evening, Prof. Bauhofer and the NIT’s Associate Director Manager Educational Affairs, Gunther Menge, awarded the best students of NIT class 12. This year’s “NIT Study Awards” were sponsored by the Dr. Dieter und Renate Liebich-Stiftung, which made it possible that each prize came with a financial value. The following students were awarded for their outstanding achievements within the double degree program: Arne Speerforck, Henning Haschke, Hannes Hatecke, Eugen Solowjow, Agatha Christy Okoro and Marc Schnabel.

In recognition of his outstanding academic achievements, NIT MBA student Jan-Hendrik Redmann, who is also a PhD student of the University of Hamburg, was officially admitted to the NIT dean´s list.

After the official opening of the evening, all new students and their fellow students as well as the NIT’s guests gathered in the lobby to enjoy cakes and drinks in a jolly atmosphere – a welcomed opportunity to get to know fellow students, student tutors, meet professors, NIT alumni, as well as NIT staff and other guests.
