Before applying to the international Master programs an online preliminary assessment test ("pre-check") of your academic qualifications is required. Please select the MSc program of your choice during the pre-check. The portal opens on December 1, 2017. Here's the pre-check.
If you have successfully passed the pre-check, you will receive an email from TUHH. The email will include a link to the TUHH online application facility. It is not possible to access the online application facility without having passed the pre-check.
The online application facility will be enabled on January 1, 2017 and deactivated on March 31, 2017.
Follow the link to the TUHH application portal (which has been sent to you after the successful pre-check) and
Here's a list of all the documents you will need for your application.
A one to two page summary of your academic and professional career is required. A standardized format is not needed but you should make sure that your CV includes your qualifications, special achievements as well as your foreign language and programming skills.
Bachelor's degree certificate
Bachelor's degree certificate or equivalent, including your aggregate mark or grade point average. If your final degree certificate is not yet available, you need to submit an official provisional degree certificate or an official letter of your registrar, dean or academic supervisor, listing the remaining subjects and, if possible, the prospective grades as well as the prospective final grade average.
Transcript of record
Complete university transcript of record (semester mark sheets), listing your subjects and grades.
Explanation of grading system
Official explanation of your university grading system issued by your registrar, dean, or academic supervisor, indicating at least the maximum passing grade, the minimum passing grade and the minimum passing grade for graduation.
Proof of English language proficiency
Please note that all applicants whose native language is not English must submit a valid proof of proficiency in English, even though English might be an official language in their home country and even though their previous education might have been conducted in English language. Valid means that any certificate may not be older than two years. Candidates must prove their proficiency in English by one of the following tests:
Statement of purpose
The statement of purpose (max. two pages) should include your reasons for undertaking graduate work in the chosen field of engineering at TUHH, your motivation to pursue the additional technology management program at the NIT and your future career plans. If you want to apply for one of the industrial scholarships, please specify in your statement of purpose which scholarship you want to be considered for and give reasons why you are interested in the specific sponsoring company. Please only choose one company (if your academic profile matches more than one scholarship program, the NIT Admissions Team may ask you to submit an additional Statement of Purpose at a later time).
2 Letters of recommendation
The letters of recommendation should be issued by faculty members acquainted with the applicant's work in the major area of undergraduate study. If that work occurred some time ago, recommendations from those supervisors familiar with the applicant's professional performance are acceptable as well. Please upload the letters of recommendation in one pdf. Referees may also send the letters of recommendation directly to the NIT (email@example.com). In that case, please instruct the referees to indicate your name and your TUHH application number in the subject heading of the email. Please leave the upload field empty, if you do not have your letters of recommendation yet or if your referee wants to submit the document directly to the NIT.

If you are already enrolled in one of the international MSc programs at TUHH or are studying in a consecutive BSc program at TUHH please submit the documents specified above (CV, Statement of Purpose, Transcripts and Certificates from your Bachelor’s degree, proof of English proficiency, Letters of recommendation) along with your confirmation of matriculation and a current transcript of record from TUHH via email (firstname.lastname@example.org)
After you have finished the uploading process please confirm the application. TUHH will then start processing your application and check whether you can be admitted. You should check your application status regularly.
Once you have been offered admission into the MSc program at TUHH, the NIT Admissions Team will get in touch with you to inform you about the status of your application for the Double Degree Program. At that point (and not earlier), promising candidates will be asked to submit further documents (e.g. a proof of professional experience) and / or are asked to participate in an interview (usually via Skype). Until then, we kindly ask you to refrain from inquiries regarding your application status at the NIT.
For outstanding students the NIT offers a limited number of industrial scholarships granted by partner companies. The selection process for the Double Degree Program with an industrial scholarship starts in March. So you improve your chances of receiving an industrial scholarship by applying as early as possible.
NIT's industrial scholarships are worth 4,900 EURO per semester and cover the tuition fee for the Technology Management program. TUHH enrolment fees (approx. 300 EURO per semester) and NIT administrative fees (300 EURO per semester) are not covered by the scholarship and will have to be covered by the student.
The application process for these industrial scholarships is handled by the NIT. When applying for the Double Degree Program, please indicate in your Statement of Purpose for which industrial scholarship you would like to be considered and why you would be a worthy recipient of the scholarship. Please only choose one company (if your academic profile matches more than one scholarship program, the NIT Admissions Team may ask you to submit an additional Statement of Purpose at a later time). We expect you to visit the company's website before writing your Statement of Purpose to inform yourself about the company, its sites, its markets, its products and its philosophy. For further information about scholarships, please only contact the NIT, not the companies.
For the upcoming Class 19 (starting in September 2017), depending on your background, you can apply for a scholarship granted by one of the following companies:
Be aware that the industrial scholarships are limited and will be awarded to only a few selected students. Please have a look at other financing options to make sure the tuition fees of € 22.000 as well as your living expenses will be covered during your time in Hamburg.
The NIT Northern Institute of Technology Management is part of "TUHH hautnah" with student projects and NIT band.
On March 29, NIT alumni share their experiences at NXP Semiconductors in Hamburg.
Please apply until March 31 for our international Double Degree Programs (Technology Management at NIT plus international Master's program at TUHH).
