The NIT Northern Institute of Technology Management is an institute for higher education in Hamburg, Germany.
Our focus lies on issues like digitalization, global management and entrepreneurship. We want to qualify students and professionals to actively shape digital change. Under the slogan ‘BE THE CHANGE’ talented people from all around the world learn how to handle management tasks responsibly and sustainably.
Founded in 1998 by professors of the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), the NIT has always combined technical skills and management knowhow.
The NIT offers multiple rooms for rent for your conference, seminar or workshop. We furthermore offer 65 apartments in the NIT building (approx. 20 m² and fully furnished), which are mainly rented by our NIT students.
Our building in ideally located on the campus of the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH). It is the perfect location for events in the south of Hamburg.
The NIT offers a MBA/MA program in Technology Management. Our program prepares you for responsible leadership and management tasks. The contents are specially tailored to the requirements of a changing working environment through a high level of practical experience and project-based learning.
This program is very flexible and can be studied alongside your carrer or promotion OR in combination with a MSc program at our long time partner the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH). The NIT program is taught in English.
For professionals we also offer the Innovation Manager Program. This certificate program is especially designed for professionals who want to gain new impulses and promote innovation in their own company.
The Technology Management program at the NIT is very flexible. You can choose, if you want to study 90 or 120 ECTS (depending on your personal situation and the aspired degree).
Therefore the duration of the program can also vary. The program takes approximately 24 to 30 months. This usually translates into 4 to 5 semesters.
At the NIT, you can complete the Technology Management study program with an M.A., an MBA or with a certificate.Whether you graduate with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) or a Master of Arts (M. A.) depends on your previous career. With two years of work experience (between BA and MBA) you will be able to go for an MBA.
Moreover it is possible to take individual modules (to further your education) or complete the four-module "Innovation Manager" certificate program.

The NIT is linked to leading international companies. Therefore the NIT is able to offer scholarships for highly motivated and outstanding students. There are also a few other very interesting financing options (e.g. foundations, student loans). Please check our website for detailed information.
The Technology Management program is taught entirely in English. All applicants whose native language is not English must submit a valid proof of proficiency in English.
Furthermore, as part of our program, to learn a second language is required. Students, whose German skills are below C1, will have to take German classes. Students with German skills C1 or higher will be able to choose their language classes (e.g. Spanish, Chinese, French...).
Depending on whether you want to study exclusivly at the NIT or want to combine Technology Management with an MSc at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), the application process differs.

YES! If you are currently enrolled in an MSc program at the TUHH you may apply for the next intake (our program always starts in October). Your application deadline would then be July 15 (since you already have TUHH admission). However, we would recommend applying as early as possible since we have a rolling admissions system.
The NIT has longtime partnerships with a number of internationally acclaimed companies. Every year a selected group of high potential students get selected for one of our industry scholarships. The scholarship covers the program fee.

The Technology Management program is very flexible. It is organized in modules, which contain compulsory attendance, individual group work and online-based self-study.
The compulsory attendance takes place almost exclusively on Friday evenings and weekends. Thus you can complete your studies part-time alongside work commitments, working on a PhD or individual obligations.
