Yes. NIT is a recognized non-profit educational enterprise. All payments and donations to the NIT are tax-deductible.

CAN EMPLOYEES FROM SPONSOR COMPANIES STUDY AT THE NIT?

If the formal admission criteria are met, then employees of the sponsor company who are on academic leave (i.e., from international branches) are entitled to study as a sponsored student from their company. The NIT also provides shorter educational modules that are designed to meet specific requirements of a company.

DO SPONSORING COMPANIES INCUR OTHER COSTS DURING THE INTERNSHIP?

As a rule, companies pay an internship and master's thesis remuneration of around €500 per month. If the internship is outside of Hamburg a rent and travel grant should also be paid, subject to agreement and in the individual instance.

SPONSORS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

HOW ARE SCHOLARSHIP HOLDERS INTEGRATED INTO THEIR SPONSORING COMPANY?

Scholarship holders visit their sponsor company and present themselves in their first semester. In the following spring, they receive a specific internship offer. Future interns contact the department in which they work and get to know their supervisors. The 12-week internship is typically between August and November. In the course of their internship, students learn more about subjects for their three-month management thesis and for the six-month engineering master's thesis they complete in their second year. In all, scholarship holders spend up to 12 months with their sponsoring company.

HOW ARE SCHOLARSHIPS HOLDERS SELECTED?

Admissions are the result of a multistage selection procedure from a large number of applicants. It includes a personal interview in cooperation with DAAD or Goethe-Institut in the applicant's home country or at NIT in Hamburg. Potential sponsors can attend the interview or hold their own interview.

DO SPONSORING COMPANIES MAINTAIN CONTACTS WITH EACH OTHER?

All sponsoring companies have senior representatives on NIT's Industrial Advisory Board. They meet twice a year to advise NIT, thereby creating an exclusive network of well-known companies in different industries.

DOES NIT PROVIDE SUPPORT WITH PR AND MARKETING?

Sponsors' logos find their way all over the world in NIT's brochures and on its website. NIT regularly sends brochures to leading universities of technology, Goethe Institutes, consulates and DAAD offices around the world. It also takes part in international education fairs.

HOW DOES NIT SUPPORT THE RECRUITMENT OF SPONSORS?

NIT sponsors have permanent access to a pool of international executives in the making and can make on-campus presentations and invite groups of students to visit their companies. Furthermore, NIT holds an annual Recruiting Day on which sponsoring companies can present their portfolios to students at TUHH and NIT.
