The NIT Northern Institute of Technology Management is awarding the Hauke Trinks Award in recognition of the reputation of its founding father, Hauke Trinks. The application requires a completed application form, an exposé of the thesis and a maximum 90-second video which concisely illustrates the objective, results and innovative character of the work. In addition, an evaluation form of the supervising university teacher is required.

The first prize is endowed with 1,000 €, the second prize with 600 € and the third prize with 400 €. The award ceremony will take place during the summer BBQ on 20 June 2019 on the campus of the Technical University of Hamburg (TUHH).

In 1998 Prof. Dr. Hauke Trinks founded the Northern Institute of Technology (today NIT Northern Institute of Technology Management). Trinks recognized early on that a purely technical education is no longer sufficient to successfully counter the high global competitive pressure. With the founding of the NIT, he set a milestone in the education of young students who learn to deal competently and flexibly with the challenges of digital change in the Master's program in Technology Management.  As a passionate researcher and scientist, he enjoyed great esteem for his future-oriented thinking and spent several months on the ice of Spitsbergen for his research. He died in 2016 at the age of 76 on Utsira in Norway.
