In 1998 Prof. Dr. Hauke Trinks founded the Northern Institute of Technology (today NIT Northern Institute of Technology Management). Trinks recognized early on that a purely technical education is no longer sufficient to successfully counter the high global competitive pressure. With the founding of the NIT, he set a milestone in the education of young students who learn to deal competently and flexibly with the challenges of digital change in the Master's program in Technology Management. As a passionate researcher and scientist, he enjoyed great esteem for his future-oriented thinking and spent several months on the ice of Spitsbergen for his research. He died in 2016 at the age of 76 on Utsira in Norway.
