For many years, the international steel company, Arcelormittal, has been awarding scholarships to Northern Institute of Technology (NIT) Management students, guiding these young engineers to gain a foothold in industry. José Antonio Rodríguez Pastrana received this honor in NIT Class 20. Last week, the award ceremony took place, and José is now ready for his upcoming collaboration with ArcelorMittal!

José, congratulations for this scholarship! What does it mean for you that ArcelorMittal is supporting you?

It is an honor to have the support of such an important company worldwide. I feel very grateful for this opportunity, and it encourages me to give my best during my studies.

How did the application process work for you?

The application process consisted of writing a letter of motivation to the company, and then having a telephone interview with them. It was an extensive but very exciting and rewarding process.

What are your future plans with ArcelorMittal?

In the near future, I will do my internship within the company. Once that is concluded, I would be glad to stay longer in the company and carry out some other projects with them, like the project work and master's thesis.

Why did you choose to study at NIT?

In the last years I knew that I wanted to do a master, but I wasn't sure If I should go for a technical master or a management one. The NIT offered me the perfect combination to pursue my wish of increasing my knowledge in these two areas.

Have your expectation been fulfilled?

Completely! I love the NIT community, and although it demands hard work, I have enjoyed every class and seminar that I have attended at the NIT and can only recommend becoming part of our community as well.
