January 29: Hamburg Economic Dialogue

On 29 January 2018, entrepreneurs and managers from Hamburg's medium-sized businesses will discuss the role of start-ups. For the fourth time, the NIT Northern Institute of Technology Management invites you to the Hamburg Economic Dialogue. This time in cooperation with Gruner + Jahr. It starts at 7 pm in the Greenhouse - the Innovation Lab of the publishing house at Schulterblatt 58. Participation is free of charge. Registration is requested.

The magic of start-ups - why companies are fighting for founders

ABOUT YOU, TODAY IN HAMBURG or AppLike - numerous established companies such as Otto, Haspa or Gruner + Jahr rely on in-house start-ups. Why? The new digital world is becoming increasingly complex and fast moving. In the digital world, it is important for companies to keep up and to remain flexible and agile at all times. Many of them are looking for new ways out of existing structures and defined processes in order to have flexible reactions to changes and innovations. The solution: founders. Corporations acquire start-ups or start their own. This often brings together very different corporate cultures and employees. The cliché: Young people of generation Y meet long-established people who hold on to their structures. What is the reality? And who are the winners of this development?

AppLike and Gruner + Jahr - a look behind the scenes

Together with our guests, we will cover topics on the founding culture, innovation and corporate cultures.

Our guests will share their experiences:

  • Jonas Thiemann, founder and managing director of the start-up AppLike GmbH of Gruner + Jahr
  • Nele Schön, team leader for management development and advanced training at Gruner + Jahr
  • Jens Uehlecke, Managing Director of the Greenhouse Innovation Lab
  • Prof. Dr. Christian Lüthje, Head of the Institute for Innovation Marketing at the Technical University of Hamburg

The evening's moderator will be Verena Fritzsche, Managing Director of the NIT Northern Institute of Technology Management. Afterwards, the NIT invites you to join a networking event.

Hamburg Economic Dialogue

Through the NIT Digital Think Tank, founded in November 2016, the NIT initiates workshops, lectures and network events to bring stakeholders and interested parties together in digital change. Once a quarter, the NIT invites managing directors and entrepreneurs from medium-sized companies to the Hamburg Business Dialogue to talk about Industry 4.0, new business fields and working environments of the future. The aim is a stimulating exchange of ideas on topics that move SMEs. Speakers from the worlds of business, science, politics, and start-ups provide an impetus.
