Michelle Viramontes Espinosa wins 2021 DAAD Price

Michelle Viramontes Espinosa from Mexico, receiv¬ed the DAAD Price 2021 in recognition of her exceptional academic and social commitment during the graduation ceremony of Class21 on September 24th 2021, which took place with 100 attendees in the main lecture hall of the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH). 

Worth € 1,000, the DAAD price it is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and awarded to international students for outstanding social activity that enriches international cooperation as well as strong academic performance.

Michelle received most of her fellow-students’ nominations. She won over a jury of NIT students and staff partly because of her keen interest to learn the German language and integrate herself into the German culture. Her fellow students praised her for being open-minded and always being a team player in private and professional life. Michelle frequently organized trips to free events in Hamburg and the surrounding towns and overall invested herself into fostering the community at the NIT.

“We always valued Michelle’s attitude towards improving the NIT, she contributed helpful feedback and has always been reliable and friendly,” said the prize-giving speaker Wolfgang Höll, Recruiting & Admissions Manager at the NIT.

Price-winner Michelle Viramontes Espinosa will graduate with a Master’s degree in Technology Management at the NIT, studying at the same time for an MSc in Environmental Engineering at the TUHH.
