Startup NÜWIEL is flying high at the moment. Founded by NIT alumni Natalia Tomiyama and Sandro Rabbiosi, it recently won bronze at both the Austin, Texas, Food+City Challenge and the Hamburg Gründergeist competition for startups.
Initiated by the McCombs School of Business, the international Food+City Challenge is a competition for startups that encourages innovation in the field of urban food systems. The NÜWIEL team, whose focus is on emission-saving transportation of food, succeeded in convincing the jury of the wide-ranging possibilities of their bicycle trailer and came away with the bronze medal.
Their smart bicycle trailer was equally successful in the Gründergeist competition for business startups held by Hamburg Chamber of Commerce young entrepreneurs chapter. Their concept won through against stiff competition and took a fantastic third place. We congratulate them and wish them continuing success.
“We are extremely happy to have won bronze at the Food+City Challenge in Austin, Texas, and third place at Gründergeist 2017 in Hamburg,” says Natalia Tomiyama. “However, for us it is not about winning prizes but receiving recognition for our work and proving that there is a demand for clean vehicles not only in Germany but also in the U.S.”
